Bring on the 27th of April.

Well I've done it. I've taken the plunge and pre-ordered the Kindle Touch.

I went for the 3g model, and I can't wait. Expect a review as soon as it arrives on my door.

I can't help but wonder how many others have joined me, and if Amazon will actually realise the profits they have delayed simply by not releasing in the UK until 6 months after its US release.

NewsFlash: Kindle Touch available in the UK.

Yesterday amazon announced that from today The Kindle Touch will be available for pre-order. It will than start shipping on the 27th April.

The Touch will be available in wi-fi and 3G models, and will be priced at £109 and £169. No sign of the advert subsidised models possibly they have still to sort out legal problems around such a service.

I have to say i'm delighted by the news, and a little suprised. While we've been "expecting" this for some time, it looked like it would never really happen.

If your desperate for a 3g kindle but can't afford £169 i have it on good authority that the 3g Kindle Keyboard on Spree4.com is below £90 (only 1 for sale first come first served).

NewsFlash: Kindle Fire Release date.

We have uncomfirmed reports that amazon are putting the finishing touches to their UK release campaign for the Kindle Fire.

The date being rumoured is May 2012. This is the most promising rumour for sometime and we'll keep you upto date as more information becomes available.

Some questions still to answer are: How Much will the fire be? Will the advert subsidised model be available? Will the Touch be included in the release?

Kindle UK Release Update 2

Its been a week and not much has happened. Still nothing but rumour and what's worse less of that as people seem to be getting bored with the wait.

While looking for more information on the uk release of the Kindle Fire or Kindle Touch, its becoming apparent that the people who would be Amazon's early adopters are fast losing interest in the wait or even buying their competitors products. Yet still in a move that proves you don't actually need to be good a business to succeed, no sign of a release date not just here but in almost all the biggest markets outside the US. The way the wind is blowing they will be lucky to have any room left in the market when they eventually release.

Are we selling them short though, i have continued to hit rumours about the next generation kindle. These rumours suggest it is imminent and explains the lack of at least a touch release. Amazon are playing there cards very tight to their chest either they really are unable to see the benefit in releasing to the uk or the delay has meant they may as well wait for the next kindle and the kindle fire 2.

Kindle UK Release Update 1

So it's fast approaching 6 months after Amazon's release of their new kindle line. Despite almost daily rumours of immanent announcements there is still no sign of the Kindle fire or the Kindle touch in the UK. To add insult to tech geek injury the Kindle touch is now available for international shipping.....unless that is you happen to live in one of the countries "lucky" enough to have there own Amazon site. If you do live in let's say the UK for example, you will be unable to ship from amazon.com.

Amazon's reasoning seems to be that we deserve a full launch for new products, rather than it just appearing on the homepage. That seems reasonable except of course the full launch does not seem to be happening. If they are struggling to get it organised I can get a few balloons and some banners together for Monday?

There seems to be a little movement from customer service reps although maybe they just have a better script. Where as emails used to get very sharp answers about no knowledge, I received a very nice but still rather useless email apologising that they had no further information but promising that my enquiry would be passed up the chain. Let's hope so, maybe if enquires about a UK release reaches critical mass on someone's desk they may actually do something about it.

Welcome to Kindle News

Hi,

Having spent the last few months scouring the web for news on Amazon's kindle touch, I thought I'd create this blog to share my findings.

I'd love this blog to become the go to place for UK related kindle news. To that end I will be posting rumours, news, reviews and offers plus my usual interesting rants.

I'll also be running a weekly update on the UKs wait for the Kindle touch and the Kindle fire to be released. I apologise in advance if I get a little worked up about this one.

Thanks.
